SVG is the right choice for a print shop — scales without loss, carries real millimetre dimensions, and includes the quiet zone.
Static or dynamic
Many well-known generators produce dynamic codes: the code does not point at your address but at the provider's server, which then redirects. When the subscription ends, the code stops working — including on material already printed.
That cannot happen here. The code carries your content directly. There is nothing that could be switched off. The price: the target cannot be changed afterwards, and there are no scan statistics.
About the logo
Almost everywhere you read that error correction level H tolerates 30 % coverage. That is wrong. The 30 % refers to codewords — and a codeword is a block of 2 × 4 modules that is already lost entirely when a single one of its modules is covered. At the edge of the logo you therefore destroy codewords that are only one eighth obscured.
GS1 measured it: at level H, roughly 15 % logo area already consumes 35 % of the error correction budget.
Reading it back
Rather than explaining percentage rules, the tool checks: the finished code is scaled down, rotated slightly, blurred, and then read back. If a code with a logo fails that test, the download is blocked — measured, not estimated.
Payment by QR code (EPC / GiroCode)
The “Payment” tab produces an EPC QR code to EPC069-12, which banking apps read as a prefilled transfer. The specification mandates error correction level M and at most 331 bytes. Accented characters count double, which is why the display counts bytes rather than characters — the classic mistake in EPC generators.
Printing
- Use SVG, not PNG — a print shop will otherwise scale the bitmap wrongly.
- The four-module quiet zone is part of the file and must not be cropped away.
- Module size at least 0.4 mm. The tool shows it for your print width.
- No red for the modules: till scanners work with red light and read red as white.
- No gradients — they lower modulation and with it readability.
